Occupy the Holidays
This is something everyone can do…

A bunch of these posters have been printed and are available for distribution. Email ShowEmail to find out where you can pick some up. You can also download the flyer and print your own. The idea is to plaster these in the malls, chain stores, banks, ATMs – get creative. This can be done individually or in groups. You can sneak them into the stalls in the bathrooms and change rooms or plaster them on the walls and doors of the building with everyone watching. You could even take pictures when you post them and share them on the facebook page. Please do not to put them on car windshields as they get thrown on the ground and create a mess – we don’t want that to be our holiday message. A big thank you to Nicole for the graphic design and Dani at Print Three for the printing.

Thursday November 24th General Assembly
* INDOOR LOCATION CONFIRMED FOR TOMORROW’S GENERAL ASSEMBLY*
Today, Thursday Nov. 24th, we will be meeting for GA at The Dancing Goat Coffee Kabin, located at 1 – 75 Front Street (on the corner by the cenotaph). Again we are strongly encouraging people to order coffee & snacks. Also, dinner & tapas are both available to be ordered from the Front Street Grill, which is part of the same business. We really want to support our local downtown businesses, so let’s buy as much we can and make it worth their while to host us!
Start time for the meeting will again be 6:30 pm. It was not possible to change the time of dinner at the plaza for today, so that will arrive at 6pm, for those who can’t eat at the Grill.
Agenda is still open, but we should probably discuss our emergency response system ASAP.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>6:30 PM - 8:30PM<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<@ The Vault Cafe, 399 Wallace Street
Today, November the 21st at 09:00 representatives from Occupy Nanaimo Met with city officials in regards to the ongoing occupation of Diana Krall Plaza. The situation is again at a stand still. The City brings forward the argument that while they respect our freedom of expression and peaceful assembly they also recognize that we are in breach of City Bylaws and there for the Overnight Camping in the Plaza, as well as any other structures, must be removed. Occupy Nanaimo Stood firm, bringing forward solutions to try and work with the City. Their settlement off remains a public forum for Occupy Nanaimo that would be filmed in order to get our message out.
The Result of this standstill is that we will be presenting the proposal to the City Council. Tuesday’s General Assembly will be focused around the current request from the City. We have been requested to put forward, in writing, A “manifesto” of sorts. We need the numbers tomorrow so that we may, as a consensus, find something that we are all comfortable putting forward as Occupy Nanaimo. Please everyone, ignore the weather, dress warm and come and lend your voice to this Critical part of our movement. Warm Drink’s, Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Tea, and treats are available for purchase(local business FTW!). Bring everyone, this is one of the most important General Assemblies yet.
